Founders of the Land
Linton Camp:
A quiet retreat in the Yorkshire Dales — for individuals, families, and anyone ready to pause, reconnect, and remember what matters.
This isn’t a business venture.
It’s a promise — to protect the land, create space for honest rest, and build something that will outlive us.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You don’t need to come alone.
Whether you're arriving with grief, children, or big questions, the land will meet you where you are.
Linton Camp will be a small, soulful retreat, where shared meals, wild play, river swims, and real conversation remind us what it means to feel human again.
We’ve gone all in.
Now we’re inviting you to be part of the founding story.
A Story Held in Soil
Linton Camp isn’t just land. It’s memory.
Once a residential school tucked into the hills, it echoed with muddy knees, quiet friendships, big emotions, and fireside laughter. You can still feel it — in the roots, the stone, the silence.
For the last four years, I’ve walked this land again and again.
Not to develop it — to listen.
Each time, the same vision returned:
-
People gathered round a fire
-
Children climbing trees
-
Someone arriving worn out — and leaving lighter
Now it’s time to bring that vision to life.
Not just for me — for everyone who needs somewhere to land.
To reset. To remember. To come home to what matters.

Where Is Linton Camp?
Linton Camp is nestled just outside Grassington, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
It’s far enough away that it feels like a break.
But close enough that you won’t lose a day to travel.
Surrounded by ancient trees, rolling fields, and a river bend that invites you in, this land has been a quiet presence for generations.
Here, you’ll walk, swim, sit by the fire, and sleep under skies wide enough to stretch your soul.
This place doesn’t shout. It whispers.
And if you’re paying attention, it will call you home.
“A retreat, not a relocation. A pause — not an escape.”
Who Comes Here — and Why
This isn’t an open calendar.
This is a carefully held space.
Every weekend at Linton Camp will be curated with intention — to bring together people in similar seasons of life.
Some may arrive with grief or burnout.
Others may be navigating motherhood, endings, reinvention, or simply the quiet question: “Is this it?”
You don’t have to be spiritual.
You don’t have to be sorted.
You just have to feel the pull.
We welcome:
-
Families needing a break from the noise to reconnect in nature
-
Single parents who rarely get to rest and be held themselves
-
Individuals at crossroads, in-between moments, or mid-unravelling
-
Groups seeking purpose, peace, or simply a slower rhythm
Many gatherings will be guided by The One Decision Method—a framework for finding clarity when life feels too loud.
But most of all, what you’ll find here is a connection to yourself, to others, to something steady and real.
You won’t leave with a to-do list.
You’ll leave with something that feels like truth.
What We’re Building
Linton Camp will be a quiet, natural retreat — built slowly, soulfully, and in harmony with the land.
No fluff. No façade.
No wellness veneer.
Just thoughtful spaces, simple comforts, and the freedom to feel like yourself again.
What you’ll find here:
-
Wooden cabins that grey and soften with age — blending into the hills
-
Shepherd huts with log burners, star windows, and silence
-
Family cabins and dorm pods for those arriving with kids, friends, or not much at all
-
A shared kitchen and dining hall — where good food and warm mugs bring people together
-
River swims and wood-fired saunas — because the land heals in its own way
-
Spaces to read, rest, create, and reconnect — indoors and out
Every path, bench, and building will be held in a not-for-profit trust — protected from resale or exploitation.
This isn’t a retreat centre.
It’s a return — for families, for seekers, for anyone ready to feel more human again.

Shared Spaces That Make Sense
Not a spa. Not a hotel.
Just thoughtful, honest spaces built for real people who need a breather. You’ll find:
The Library
Fire on. Blanket over knees. A chair you won’t want to get out of. Quiet, without needing to be silent. The Art Room
Messy shelves. Clay. Paint. Sketchbooks. A space to make something with your hands and stop overthinking everything. The Yoga & Stretch Loft
Wooden floors. Windows that open. No mirrors, no pressure. Just a place to move or be still — whatever you need. The Wild Play Barn
No screens. Just ropes, costumes, old toys and space to run, climb, and imagine. Kids love it. Adults do too.The Cold Plunge & Sauna Deck
Fire-heated sauna. River dip if you're brave. Or just sit, breathe, and be warm. The Communal Dining Hall
Long tables. Proper mugs. Bowls of hot food passed round. It’s casual. It’s comforting. It’s connection without small talk.Workshop & Gathering Rooms
For chats that matter. Writing. Circles. Or sitting next to someone without needing to say a word. These spaces weren’t designed to impress anyone.
They were designed to help you feel a little more human again..
Food That Feels Like Care
This isn’t a juice cleanse.
It’s not “clean eating.”
It’s real food, made with care, like you’d make for someone you love.
At Linton Camp, meals are shared at long tables or eaten curled up by the fire.
The menu changes with the seasons, but the feeling remains the same: warming, grounding, and nourishing.
You can expect:
-
Stews that taste like home
-
Fresh sourdough, still warm
-
Proper breakfast after a cold dip
-
Berry crumbles from the hedgerow
-
Big mugs of tea, coffee, or cocoa — served without asking how you take it, because we already know
There’s always enough. Seconds are encouraged. And no one leaves hungry — not for food, or company.
If you have dietary needs, we’ll meet them. No drama, no spotlight.
The food isn’t just fuel. It’s part of the welcome.
“It’s not about the ingredients. It’s about how it makes you feel.”

The Land Itself
You won’t find manicured gardens here.
No manicured people, either.
Just real land — old land — that asks nothing of you but your presence.
At Linton Camp, the landscape is part of the experience:
-
Hills and trails for walking and wandering
-
A river bend deep enough to swim, shallow enough to paddle
-
Big skies that stretch above the trees
-
Wind and weather that remind you you're alive
-
Moss, mud, and space — for kids to roam and adults to stop performing
The buildings are wooden and simple — designed to grey and soften into the surroundings over time. You won’t see signs or branding. You’ll just feel it — in your body — that this place is different.
And the best part?
You don’t need to do anything when you get here.
The land does most of the work.
You arrive. You breathe. You remember.

Every pound raised goes directly into building the first chapter of Linton Camp.
Here’s what your support helps create:
-
The land itself is legally protected forever through our not-for-profit CIC
-
The first dwellings — shepherd huts, compost toilets, and a warm kitchen
-
The retreat experience — quiet, intentional spaces for families, individuals, and small groups to reconnect
No profit margins.
No private ownership.
Just a shared commitment to something lasting, honest, and needed.

And we welcome that with open arms.
If you feel called to:
-
Volunteer your time (planting, building, cooking, hosting)
-
Share your skills (land care, therapy, education, design, storytelling)
-
Offer your presence in any way that feels true
We’d love to include you.
This isn’t about roles or qualifications.
It’s about feeling the pull — and saying yes.
Just Stay Close? That’s Beautiful Too.
Not everyone can give time or money — but if this place speaks to you, and you want to walk alongside the vision as it unfolds…
We’ll send quiet updates as the land begins to take shape.
No noise. Just presence.
If something in you says yes — even quietly — that’s enough. This is how we build something that lasts — together, one step at a time.
